it is very difficult to sell a guild. i remember a very long time ago i tried to sell one of my first guild and most people thought i was scamming. maybe it was just because at the time the most popular form of scamming was to actually get people to believe you were selling your guild. but i dont know, they definitely dont go for much unless you get the right buyer.

You can't rename a guild once you become guildleader, can you? What about the nickname?

I dont think its an encouraged activity, selling the name/cape desgin/hall would be understandable but existing members in it would constitude a form of scamming which isnt very well defined as of yet and in the grey.

Unless you're in a guild of One. I know a few people like that. They even have Guild Halls, but their guild never took off. In that case, I don't think anyone would care.

Can you disband a guild, meaning get rid of it without having to sell it?

yes you can disband a guild: once the last person leaves a guild it will be erased from the database.

But I thought the leader couldn't leave the guild. How does the leader leave?

I'm thinking there must be a way. It wouldn't make sense for a game like GW to lock someone into a guild just because they created it. If the guild doesn't take off, and they want to join another, there must be a way to do that. If not, there should be.

To disband a guild, the leader has to kick all members and officers. Then the leader gets the menu option "Disband the guild".

Thank you. I might disband mine. It's only me and one other guy, and he informed me last night that he's decided to cancel his Factions preorder and may not play GW much anymore. Since Factions seems more guild-oriented, and since I don't feel like recruiting, I think I'll disband my guild and look for another.

If you feel too sickened at completely destroying your guild, you can always make some inactive guy leader and leave (if youre in that got members predicament).

People, all you have to do as leader is designate another member as "Guild Leader" - this option is contained in the button next to your members' names.

You are never locked in.

Once you have made another member the leader, you can leave the same way anyone else can.

Nah, it won't sicken me to give up my guild. I mainly created it to stop all the "Will you join my guild?" whispers and to get a cape (then usually kept it turned off. lol). So I think tonight I'll kick the other guy and disband my guild.

Sooo... if anyone knows of a good, mature, mainly PvE guild that's recruiting, please PM me. I've got two accounts, with an ascended monk, warrior, and mesmer, a soon to ascend ranger and elementalist, and a necro I just started. I'm in EST time zone.

There are one-member guilds out there, but they should have the "disband guild" option.
